Jersey City Police Activities League ("JCPAL," "we," "us," or "our") is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing youth programs and community services in Jersey City, New Jersey. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals we serve, including the parents and guardians of program participants.


This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you interact with us through our website (www.thejcpal.org), our chat widget, forms, SMS/text messaging programs, payment processing, and other communication channels.

  • Register your child for a JCPAL program or event

4. SMS / Text Messaging Program

4.1 Consent and Opt-In

JCPAL operates an SMS messaging program to communicate with parents and guardians of program participants. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in — whether through our website chat widget, a web form, or another opt-in method — you expressly consent to receive text messages from JCPAL.

Message types include:

  • Program reminders and schedule updates
  • Emergency notices and safety alerts
  • Program announcements and important updates
  • Event information

Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.


4.2 Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from JCPAL at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further texts will be sent, except as required by law.

4.4 No Sharing of SMS Opt-In Data

Mobile opt-in data and consent information are never shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your consent to receive SMS messages from JCPAL applies solely to JCPAL communications.


4.5 Supported Carriers

JCPAL's SMS program is supported by most major U.S. carriers, including but not limited to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Metro by T-Mobile. Carrier support is not guaranteed for all carriers.


5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

JCPAL serves youth participants, but we do not collect personal information directly from minors under the age of 13. All program registration, consent, and communication is conducted exclusively with parents and/or legal guardians.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • We share information with trusted third-party vendors that help us operate our programs and website, including HighLevel (CRM/communications), Stripe and PayPal (payment processing). These vendors are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to provide services on our behalf. Service Providers:

We take the security of your personal information seriously. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.

Payment transactions are processed through secure, PCI-compliant third-party processors (Stripe and PayPal). JCPAL does not store full credit card numbers or sensitive financial data on our servers.

While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.


8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it in accordance with our internal data retention practices.
